We offer programs for families who are struggling financially or who live on a low or limited income. We are dedicated to assisting our customers with paying their bills and managing their energy consumption.

This means that the services are provided together with the federal government or the state. Your local Community Action Agency may accept applications. If you are struggling to make ends meet, there are case managers at non-profit organizations who can help you apply for assistance.

Government and public aid

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is the largest program. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that helps low-income households with their home energy bills. The fund provides financial assistance to renters and homeowners. If you want to receive cash assistance from LIHEAP, you need to apply as soon as possible because assistance is given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The New Jersey Lifeline Credit Program is a program offered by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services that provides a credit to eligible low-income households to help pay for energy costs. If a customer’s electricity or gas bill is over $100, they may be eligible for a credit. This is for low-income seniors only.

The applicant must be a senior citizen and have an active account with New Jersey Natural Gas. Lifeline can also help people who are 18 years of age and older and who receive Social Security Disability benefits. In order to qualify for this assistance, applicants must meet the criteria for the Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and the Disabled (PAAD) program. To apply for this program, call 800-221-0051. New Jersey SHARES is offered to people who are in a crisis or emergency situation. If you have a low or moderate income, you may be eligible to apply. Some organizations and government agencies offer financial assistance to help people pay for essential utilities, like telephone, energy and water bills. This type of aid is typically offered to people experiencing a unique hardship or crisis. This means that customers can only submit one application for this grant.

Comfort Partners offers free energy-efficiency improvements and weatherization to customers. After an audit of the applicant’s home is completed, any conservation updates will be determined on a case by case basis.
