Clinton and Ionia County food pantries.

The food pantries in both Clinton and Ionia County only help residents in those regions. If you’re in need of food or supplies, you can call a local center to get help. If a charity, church, or non-profit can’t help, they may suggest another nearby center.

What is available to each food bank will differ. Non-perishable groceries are the most commonly given item. Pantries may also offer free food items such as fruits, meats, dairy, Christmas or Thanksgiving meal boxes, and infant formula. Additionally, one can usually find common household items such as toilet paper, soap, and other hygiene supplies.

The homeless may also benefit from the on-site soup kitchens because they can get a hot meal there.

The Zion United Methodist Church provides support to local families in Ionia County. People who are unemployed, working poor, and struggling stop in for a box of food.

The Shiloh Church Food Pantry provides non-perishable food items to those in need. Items available may include soup, pasta, cereal, rice, and beans. The pantry is located at 8197 Heth Street in Orleans, Michigan, and can be reached by calling (616) 761-3584. The food bank needs help from the community to keep it running.

Belding Bible Church is a church located in Belding, Michigan that offers items from Feeding America two times per month.

In order to apply for food from the food bank, the applicant will need to show proof of income or have a referral from EightCAP, DHS, or Agency on Aging.

Epic Community Church is located at 1455 East Grand River Avenue in Portland, Michigan. The church can be reached by phone at (517) 647-7750.

The First Congregational Church of Portland is located at 421 Bridge Street in Portland, Michigan. The church operates a soup kitchen and emergency food pantry for the community. Other items that may be donated are clothes, school supplies, boxes of groceries, and Christmas meals.

The Beacon Of Hope Family Care Center is a place where people can go to get help and hope. The address of the center is 401 South Swegles Street, St. Johns, Michigan 48879. The phone number for the center is (989) 224-0328. People need to make appointments in order to be seen at the center. Free articles of clothing and household items are distributed to those in need, along with food. The Earn While you Learn program provides new or single mothers with furniture, formula, and other supplies.

The Clinton Service Center of Capital Area Community Services provides groceries for those in need, as well as referrals to programs such as SNAP food stamps and financial aid.

The First Congregational Church in Saint Johns, Michigan provides diapers and clothing for needy infants, food, toiletries, and other items to those in need in Clinton County.

The Saint Johns Basic Needs Center is a place where people can get food and clothing. The address is 213 North Clinton Avenue Saint Johns, MI 48879 and the phone number is (517) 230-4618. Different organizations offer holiday food boxes, Christmas toys or meals, and ongoing distribution of food to people in need.

Elsie United Methodist Church is located at 160 West Main Street in Elsie, Michigan. They offer a Fresh Food Initiative program that provides healthy food options to the community.

The Redeemer United Methodist Church in Dewitt, Michigan provides food, paper products, and personal items to those in need.
