Dane County and Madison free clothes, back to school supplies and furniture.

There are many clothing closets located throughout Dane County. Based on the client’s individual needs, they may receive new or gently used clothes, as well as back-to-school supplies. There is a need for basic household items, baby items, furniture, and more for Madison county residents. Without volunteers, some community centers would not be able to function. Some people volunteer at a center in order to get work experience.

The charities and churches that offer these programs collect donations from the public. The Madison County centers will distribute items based on what has been received. What low income families may qualify for assistance with includes, but is not limited to, furnishing, work clothing, household items, school supplies or uniforms, holiday decorations, free birthday toys and other items. All of the items provided by Dane County are only available through donations. If the agencies below can’t help you, then try to find other sources of free items.

The Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin is a free clothing center that helps unemployed people or people that need goods for work. You may be able to get free clothes, such as dresses, suits, briefcases, and slacks. This means that children may be given free books, educational materials, or back-to-school supplies or clothes to help them succeed in school.

The Countryside Communities Center provides families and individuals in need with food and other resources on a weekly basis. To be eligible, individuals and families must meet certain criteria. They also help people find jobs and housing. The church has a program where you can get vouchers for clothing. Families who are struggling to make ends meet, single mothers, and low-income earners can all apply for help at the Service Center. This means that people who are low income or working poor may be given vouchers to help pay for furniture, like beds. The things that may be offered are free clothes, financial aid, small toys, and school uniforms for kids.
