There are a lot of resources available for low income families during tough times, such as free meals, Christmas toys for children, and boxes of groceries. Other resources include turkey dinners at Thanksgiving and more. During the Christmas holiday period, assistance is also given to single moms and dads as well as senior citizens.

There are several programs that can help with holidays. Some of these programs are designed to help with specific holidays, while others can help with general holiday expenses. Some organizations that provide Christmas gifts for children in need are Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, and Adopt a Family. There are many churches, charities, and non-profits in Dutchess County that offer help during the holidays. There are many organizations that offer assistance to low income and/or struggling families during the holidays. This assistance can come in the form of toys for kids, free gift certificates, holiday meals, food boxes, or even referrals to other organizations.

It is best to apply for college in the fall or early winter. This means that the store is selling a lot of these items and they are running out quickly.

The Potter House provides free food from its emergency pantry to those in need before Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are also toys for kids who are younger than 6 years old.

Verbank United Methodist Church is located at 8 North Clove Road in Verbank, NY. The church provides free food and hot meals to seniors, the disabled and homebound during Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The main phone number for the church is 845-677-5534. The Halina Share Memorial Food Closet provides holiday food for needy individuals. The main phone number is 845-832-6287.

The Astor Services for Children and Families is only able to help those who are already clients of the organization. The Adopt a family/Child holiday program passes out free wrapped toys.

Toys for Tots of Dutchess County allows children in need to have a toy to open on Christmas. The organization collects donations of new, unwrapped toys and then distributes them to children in need.
