The Hickory North Carolina ministry provides three types of food assistance to local residents. If someone comes in asking for help, they will be given a meal to eat if they are in need of food.

If someone qualifies for food assistance through a county assistance program, they will automatically qualify for the ministry’s emergency food program. The Emergency Crisis Program provides financial assistance to people who are struggling to pay their mortgage, rent, utility bills, and summer cooling bills. This program helps people pay for fuel oil and kerosene purchases, so they can keep their homes warm in the winter. Some of the other type of assistance that is available includes life-necessary pharmaceuticals, free food, and gently used clothing. Payments are always made directly to vendors, never in cash form to any applicants.

This government agency can provide assistance to those in need and help reduce poverty in the community. Some of the ways in which the state of North Carolina provides assistance to its residents include arranging help with energy bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), coordinating food assistance from food banks, and coordinating health and medical care from both government programs and local free community clinics.
