Assistance Program

Indiana free child care assistance from the Development Fund.

The free Indiana CCDF Child Care and Development Fund is paid for by federal government grants. The goal is to assist low-income families, the working poor, and parents with paying for child care while they work, attend job training, or go to school. The program provides financial assistance to residents who are unable to support themselves.

There are several requirements that applicants must meet in order to be eligible for this resource, and the demand for this resource is very high. There is often a list of people who are waiting to enroll. Some of the conditions for getting a marriage license will be set by the state and others by your local county. The purpose of the CCDF program is to improve child care options in Indiana by making it more affordable and accessible, as well as improving the quality of care. The program has several features that are beneficial. These features are listed below.

After you submit an application, the applicant will be told if they are accepted, rejected, given priority, or placed on a waiting list. The applicant will be provided with full documentation and support for the decision made. This means that there are not enough resources to support everyone who needs assistance and new applicants will have to wait until someone on the list is no longer using the service.

The term “priority status” is used to describe a situation in which the state of Indiana has determined that a certain issue is of the utmost importance. They took it upon themselves to organize the waiting list and the parents in question by these priorities. Some examples of the different groups that people can be assigned to include those who need assistance from Child Protection Services, those who are foster parents, those who need Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, disabled people, children with special needs, and people with extreme medical emergencies.

This means that how long you will have to wait and how big the waiting list is for assistance depends on when you applied, how much money the government has provided for this program and your state’s priorities. This means that Indiana will not be able to give a specific time frame for how long someone will be on the waiting list. The amount of daylight changes frequently. The only way a low income, otherwise qualified parent can receive vouchers without going through the waiting list process is by being referred by TANF/IMPACT. The Division of Family Resources needs to give this to them. The parent must be receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Indiana Medicaid Partnership for Long-term Care (IMPACT) in order to qualify. Lastly, they also must be approved for a referral by their Indiana Family Case Coordinator.

The applicant will receive an invitation letter from the state after being accepted into the free program. As part of this process you will also receive a list of what you must bring to your appointment, as documentation is required in order to receive this child care voucher. The family needs to find and use a licensed CCDF childcare provider.

There is a lack of resources and funding, so child care may be free for low-income parents who qualify. This means that those who request the vouchers first will receive them. No one from the community will be seen unless they have their invitation letter. You may lose your opportunity to enroll if you do not have all the paperwork listed in the letter.

It is important to keep in touch with your state as you apply for the Care & Development Fund and even after you have been accepted. The Indiana Children’s Bureau sends out notifications to families who are on the waiting list that they are now eligible for enrollment. This means that if the state cannot locate you, you will not receive whatever benefit they were offering.
