The Good Samaritan Center in Excelsior Springs helps out more than 1,500 families every year who live in Ray County, Virginia. The number of people helped by the program increases each year. Additionally, families outside of Liberty and Kansas City in Clay County can also receive support.

Many of the families who request assistance have lower to middle incomes and are employed full-time, but their earnings are insufficient to cover expenses. The center will also help those who are unable to work because of a disability or age. Some people will not be able to get a job because they lack education, childcare coverage, or transportation.

The center will provide basic needs such as rent, food, utilities, medicine, gas, and clothing. The Emergency Assistance Program provides financial assistance for rent, utilities, food, transportation, and other basic needs.

The Good Samaritan Center in Excelsior Springs helps families and individuals with their bills and expenses. They build relationships with their clients to make sure they are able to get back on their feet. They want to not only provide short-term aid, but also make sure that long-term needs are met, and that the family is self-sufficient.

Some of the other support offered includes a free medical clinic which is open from 8 – 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. The clinic is currently under the care of Dr. Brad Hoffman, who is an emergency doctor who is based at Liberty Hospital. He will keep the prescription current and provide care for sudden illnesses. A voucher is available if you are unable to pay for the prescription, which will allow you to receive the medicine free of charge. There are other medicines that are free.

Some additional assistance is available for eligible seniors who need help with weatherization. Weatherization can help a homeowner lower their energy bills by upgrading the home with free energy conserving improvements.

They are a leading statewide organization that provides assistance to those in need. The Homeless Intervention Program helps renters who are in a difficult situation.
