Christiansburg and Montgomery County Salvation Army assistance programs.

The Salvation Army center in Christiansburg is a place where low income families and people facing a crisis can go to for help. The majority of the assistance is located in Montgomery County Virginia, but there is potential for their services to reach other areas in the county as well. There will be appointments needed, and most of the support is around food, clothing, basic needs, and Christmas toys.

The location may provide emergency services, such as police and fire protection, as well as social services. All of these resources depend on both funding and the applicant meeting the eligibility requirements. The social service line is open from Tuesday to Friday.

The Salvation Army provides low-cost furniture, bedding, clothing, car seats, vintage goods and household items in Montgomery County. They also provide baby supplies, including diapers, layettes filled with free items for newborns, and formula. They may also provide assistance for paying rent, life-sustaining medications or heating bills. The God’s Lunch Box Soup Kitchen feeds the needy a couple days per week.
