The food pantries offer parent education classes or budgeting sessions to help the family provide for themselves. These tips will help them learn how to find healthy food options that fit their budget. This means that people who use SNAP food stamps or USDA programs can apply for this.

The other food option in Citrus County is a soup kitchen. These meals are not just for the homeless, but families in poverty can get a free meal too, including at Christmas or Thanksgiving.

Citrus County Meals On Wheels provides food assistance to low-income seniors who are 60 years of age or older. To receive assistance, clients must call 352-527-5975.

The first United Methodist Church of Inverness has a soup kitchen that serves food to those in need. The phone number for the soup kitchen is 726-2522.

The Helping Hand of Our Lady of Fatima charity provides a soup kitchen and pantry for residents of Floral City, Inverness and Hernando in Florida. They also offer help with utility bills and medications.

The Daystar Life Center is a non-profit organization located in Citrus County, Florida that provides groceries and a food pantry for those in need. Vouchers can be used to pay for groceries at the center. This organization provides meat, dairy, baby formula, fruit, and Christmas meals/gifts for new single moms and their children.

The Annie W Johnson Senior Center is a location that provides food for elderly and disabled people. Donations to the center help to fund this effort. The website provides additional information on Medicare, recreational activities, games, and more.

The Citrus County Family Resource Center is a place where people can go to get help and information about different resources that are available to them. These resources can include things like shelters, food pantries, parenting programs, and job training.

The Salvation Army’s main food pantry in Citrus County is located at 712 South School Avenue in Lecanto, Florida. A mobile food canteen is also on site. Case managers also offer assistance with finding shelter, applying for food stamps, obtaining hygiene items, and financial aid as a last resort. The Angel Tree program provides children with free toys and families with entire Christmas meals.
