Each agency has different requirements based on the applicant’s income, employment status, and reason for needing assistance. The food banks in Deschutes County will generally not refuse service to anyone. They’ll give you a free box of groceries, perishable goods, or other items. If you need help with food, the staff at the center can connect you with programs like SNAP food stamps.

The Abeaverton Hispanic Center provides support services to Hispanic residents in the Abeaverton area, as well as Deschutes County. They can be reached by phone at (971) 249-2421. There are organizations that offer support to immigrants, farm workers, and others in need. This support can come in the form of free food, meals, and more.

The Cascade Youth and Family Center provides support to low-income and homeless individuals in Deschutes County. The center offers a variety of services, including a street outreach program. Different types of assistance are available, such as hot meals, clothing, shelter, and Christmas food baskets. This is only for people who are teenagers.

The Salvation Army of Bend is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of services to the community, including a food bank, thrift store, and clothing closets. The center can provide financial assistance or help with applying for Oregon benefits like food stamps. Salvation Army also has a program called Angel Tree and provides Thanksgiving meals for people who are in poverty.

The Society of St. Vincent De Paul is an organization that provides social services to the community. A meal delivery service like Meals on Wheels is also for the elderly. There are also items for clothing and personal hygiene. The other location is at 51484 Morson Road in La Pine, Oregon. The Crossroads Cupboard is a food pantry that provides referrals to other food pantries in the area.

The Ecumenical Ministries Of Oregon and Deschutes County provides information on government programs that can help with food insecurity, including surplus USDA commodities and food stamps. They can be reached at (503) 284-5470.

The church runs a free food pantry out of its’ C-7B Suite on SE 3rd Street in Bend, Oregon. This service is provided twice per week and anyone is welcome to receive food assistance. For more information, please call (541) 410-3621. A qualified family may receive up to 80 pounds of groceries. There are also free lunches and holiday programs for children, including toys.

The Care and Share food bank is located at 18143 Cottonwood Road in Sunriver, Oregon. They partner with Sunriver Storage Systems on distribution.

The Deschutes County office provides information on the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), summer snacks for students, and other services.
