What are the primary ways to get assistance with paying your heating bills? There are a few primary ways to get assistance with paying your heating bills. You can apply for government assistance, seek help from local charities, or look into payment plans with your energy provider.

Duke Energy is the largest energy company in North Carolina. They have a program called Share the Warmth which helps customers in Charlotte and throughout the state, including in the western portion. This program is funded by donations from Duke Energy shareholders, customers, and non-profits. The government provides money to low income and qualified customers to help pay their heating bills during the winter.

Some utility companies offer a program called Operation Roundup. This program allows customers to round up their bill to the nearest dollar, with the extra money going towards helping low-income families pay their utility bills.
