There are charities in the Buffalo area that help people during the holidays. There are programs available that can provide free gifts to kids during Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter. This means that a lot of children who would otherwise not get any presents will have something to open on Christmas day.

You will need to apply to be able to participate in the Toys for Tots holiday program which is run by a charity. There is a limit to the number of Erie County families that can be helped.
