Some other programs that are available in Muskegon County include getting free meals and toys around Christmas time, being able to apply for grants that can help pay for rent, getting vouchers that can be used for gasoline, and being able to apply for food stamps through the USDA.

The Hope Lighthouse Church has a cafe on the premises called the Fire Escape Cafe. The cafe is located at 2731 Peck Street in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. The mission of the Area People food pantry is to provide groceries, personal hygiene items and other goods to those in need. If you are a family in a short term emergency situation, there may be free baby formula, food, furniture, and diapers to assist you. There is a meals on wheels service that delivers special foods to individuals with hypertension or diabetes.

The Lebanon Lutheran Church in Whitehall, Michigan provides a food pantry with milk, cheese, and other USDA-approved commodities to those in need. For more information, call (231) 893-5745. A breakfast is provided free of charge to families who are living in poverty.

These include the USDA Commodities program, the Emergency Food Assistance Program, the WIC vouchers program, and the backpack weekend meal program for low income children.
