Assistance Program

Town Community Services emergency assistance.

Families in difficult situations can go to their local town office for assistance, regardless of race, religion, or age. The government tries to stop people from being homeless and without food. If you need food or a place to stay, you can go to a shelter, food pantry, or soup kitchen. Other support may be one-time financial aid for bills or rent, but this is always limited in both New Haven and other towns. Some examples of what may be provided are below. This is a list of things that may be provided.

There are a number of services that can help seniors. There is a meal delivery service for the homebound, elderly, and disabled. Volunteers from local charities will team up with the town to provide non-emergency transportation to scheduled doctor’s appointments or local stores for medication. The goal is to help senior citizens in the local area with food, medical care, and even just someone to drop by to visit them.

Housing support, including emergency support, is coordinated through different channels to provide the best possible guidance. The majority of New Haven County’s homeless population is employed, but they still can’t afford basic living costs like rent and utilities. If you are struggling to pay your rent, Community Services may be able to help you by offering some financial support and referrals to other services.

The staff, officials, and volunteers are all knowledgeable and work with clients to give them the assistance and skills they need. There are a number of other local non-profits that participate in this activity that are HUD certified and approved agencies. The goal is to help people keep or find new housing that is safe and affordable.

Counselors provide information on how to prevent being evicted, how to stabilize housing, how to apply for grants to pay rent, and how to manage cases to ensure that housing is sustained. Another focus is on reducing heating costs, which can be met by Operation Fuel or CEAP grants.

Community Services provides families and individuals with the opportunity to improve their lives by working towards goals such as getting a job or furthering their education. Or they can find a new or higher paying job, which can help them prevent homelessness.

The goal of Town Community Service is to help people who are homeless and to prevent homelessness. The other focus is on helping people to break the cycle of poverty and improve their lives. Churches and charities in the area offer emergency shelter to women, children, men and families in need. The charity not only provides housing, but also helps people help themselves through crisis intervention and case management. This means that there are other important things besides school that people need.

The case manager and participant will have an interview to discuss their financial condition and see if they qualify for housing or financial aid. This survey will help to create a family development plan by collecting information about different aspects of the survey taker’s life, like childcare, transportation, nutrition, and employment. Each plan created includes a list of barriers that could prevent the goal from being reached, so that every possible obstacle is accounted for.

There is financial aid available to help with rent, energy, or utility bills. CEAP is a resource that provides cash grants to low-income or working poor families who qualify. In addition to loans, there may be rent assistance programs or government grants from programs such as ESG. If you are having trouble with your family, you can go to a Town Community Services office and talk to the staff. They can tell you about all the different resources that are available to help you.

If you are a veteran from New Haven County, you can get information on federal government assistance through SSVF – Supportive Services for Veteran Families. This program can help you with things like housing, employment, and other family services. This was designed to help those veterans as well as their families that are at risk of becoming homeless, such as those who are behind on their mortgage, rent, or even utility bills. This means that coordinators help veterans enrolled in the program by providing support so that they can become independent and have a stable place to live.

A local food pantry is a place where people can go to get free fresh meats, dairy, produce, canned goods, and household staples if they meet certain income requirements. Patients are given the opportunity to choose the groceries they want during their visit. The amount of food from any pantry is dependent on the number of people in the family and any special needs they might have.
