Customer who have San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and Southern California Gas Company can get cash grants and funds from Temporary Energy Assistance for Families (TEAF) to help pay their utility bills. The Salvation Army is running a program with a central intake application number.
The money for this comes from the government, different charities, the United Way, and the state. The Salvation Army is running the Temporary Energy Assistance for Families (TEAF) in the state of California. This program is designed to help people who are going through a tough financial situation or some other type of crisis. If a family or individual applies for help and is found to be qualified, they may be able to receive a one-time emergency energy grant of up to $1,500 to help pay outstanding energy and utility bills, and prevent a disconnection of their service.
Temporary Energy Assistance for Families (TEAF) criteria
There are grants available to those customers who are struggling to pay their utility bills and who are non-custodial parents of a child under 18 years old, or guardians. TEAF can help single parents who are struggling to make ends meet in California. The organization provides financial assistance to help with expenses such as rent, utility bills, and food. TEAF also offers other services such as job training and counseling to help single parents get back on their feet. To get the $1,500 grant for utility bills, customers must provide proof that they are U.S. citizens.
This means that people who cannot prove their own US citizenship but can prove their children’s US citizenship will receive a partial cash grant. The grant recipients must provide documentation of their total household income as well as a copy of their most recent utility bill. The utility bill must show the current and past-due amounts that are owed to their power company. This means that the recipients’ household income must be less than or equal to twice the amount of the federal government poverty level.
Grant utility program
This program is being funded by both the federal government and the state of California. Although the Salvation Army and many of these energy companies are constantly providing qualified families with other assistance, they are still not doing enough. The financial assistance and cash grants are being made available to qualifying California utility customers through a public funded grant made possible by the state government . Other sources of funding are also being used. In addition to the money coming from the state government, California’s investor-owned utilities and private sources are also providing funds.
The utility and gas companies have been working closely with a number of towns and local counties throughout California to help the Salvation Army. Other organizations are helping to fund and implement this program in California. This program is being funded by several million dollars.
