Florida residents will receive discounts on their cell phone or home telephone bills as part of this. There is government assistance available for low-income families, seniors, or the disabled. This assistance is noted below, or low income guidelines can be met. There are discounts or credits offered to Florida residents on their monthly service charge for both cell phones and home phone service. If you need help paying for a new phone service, Lifeline or Link-Up can help. Lifeline or Link-Up can help pay for the connection costs or deposits in Florida, and they might even give you a free cell or wireless phone if you’re low-income or elderly.

The customer needs to contact their cell phone provider to apply for a discount. If you need more information about the application process, that company can help. But it’s a good idea to research the process before you start so you know what to expect.

The state of Florida can help with the application process for Lifeline if your telephone or cellular provider is Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, Assurance Wireless, or T-Mobile. To get more information, you can either call 1-800-540-7039, or visit the office of the Public Service Commission.

This credit is for people who receive government benefits or have a low income. The number of people in a household will affect the criteria for something. This means that if your household earns less than 150% of the poverty guidelines set by the federal government, you may be eligible for Lifeline.
